I haven’t abandoned the pretty floral Cutter House delights that promise to get you through every season with blooms on the brain. I’ve just put them on the back burner for now. But stay tuned, because they’ll be back…eventually!

It All Started With a Scarf

After I created my Little Mountain scarf in 2019, I thought about other ways that I could freeze flowers in time—ways that I could bring flowers into the home and preserve their beauty year round, day in and day out. So I started drawing. And drawing. And drawing. But my illustrations alone weren’t enough. I was looking for more. I was looking for “different”. Soon, I began creating patterns from my hand illustrated florals. Each unique pattern was created from the simplicity of a single flower or from groupings of flowers as I interpreted my floral arrangements. I then started incorporating garden decorations into my designs. And with that, my custom patterns were born! And to think that it all started with a scarf. A scarf that represented everything I love about flowers, gardens and my home state of Virginia.

And then 2020 came along and brought new excitement! I was thrilled to announce that I had opened my own online shop, Cutter House by Betsy Gibson Design, featuring my newest designs on all sorts of fun home decor items. I designed each and every item in my shop under the roof of my 220+ year old farmhouse (The Jonas Cutter House—hence the name “Cutter House”!) just outside of Boston. The Cutter House designs were (and still are, because I continue to work on them!) focused on my love for florals and all things floral-related.
Nantucket Love™ by Betsy Gibson Design
From 2020 through the end of 2022, I was busy with Cutter House and having a grand old time with it. But something happened in January of 2023. One night, for no reason that I can recall, I suddenly formed a new brand concept during my sleep—something separate and completely different from Cutter House. I awoke in the morning with three designs fully formed in my head. Oh, and the name. I also had the name of my new line—because of course I did! I started Nantucket Love™ that very morning and vowed that I would design a line of home decor items and accessories that celebrated my love for Nantucket and for all of the wonderful memories of family, friends and fun on the Island.
I hope you’ll love my interpretations of Nantucket (and the Vineyard and Fishers!) as much as I’ve loved expressing them through design.

Floral Scarves
The “Little Mountain” collection—featuring my first “non-perishable” florals—was inspired by my lifelong love of the beautiful grounds and gardens of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s longtime home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Each hand-painted flower, branch, leaf, and fruit on the scarf was introduced by Jefferson himself or added to the gardens at some point during his lifetime. The surrounding Chippendale rails reflect the terrace railings that helped define Monticello in my mind and nourish my love for Chinese-inspired furniture and decoration. These scarves were a limited edition, but they were my first foray into this space, so I’ll always love them! And I’ll probably always keep them on the website!
