10 Minute Hydrangea Wreath

Guess What?

I found a few pictures of one of my hydrangea wreaths before they were destroyed in the Cutter House Deluge of 2020. I think that the colors are perfect for this time of year but also for the current mood. Like the simplicity of the ferns on my front porch, the colors here are simple: natural and pretty, yet nicely muted. And here’s how to make a hydrangea wreath, in three steps:

Supplies and How To

Supplies:

  1. Wreath form--I like the green foam ones. Like this one...FLORACRAFT® FLORAFŌM EXTRUDED WREATH GREEN

  2. Greening Pins--Any brand will do. But buy more than you think you’ll need. Always. GREENING PINS BY ASHLAND™

  3. Dried Hydrangeas--You’ll have these in your yard, or you may have dried them earlier in the fall. You can also find them in a million places online.

How To:

  1. Attach your first hydrangea bloom to the wreath using one of the greening pins. Be careful, though, because the wreaths are not all that thick, and the pins are pretty long. I’ve stuck myself plenty of times, and it does hurt.

  2. Attach your second bloom on top of the stem of the first bloom. Continue along the wreath until you have filled it with hydrangeas.

  3. Fill in with additional blooms or otherwise mess around with the colors until you like what you see!

  4. Admire your 5 minute handiwork, take photos and then hang that wreath up!

Happy Thanksgiving!
